Each year, the State of Illinois looks at standardized test scores (the IAR or ACT) along with attendance rates, graduation rates, and other factors to determine how a school is performing. The indicators and their relative weight in the formula can be seen here: https://www.isbe.net/Documents/IRC-2025-Multiple-Indicators.pdf
Information about each school’s designation and other school-related factors can be found on the Illinois School Report Card site: www.illinoisreportcard.com
We are proud of all the growth of our students in the District. The list below highlights some of our notable accomplishments from 2024-2025.
- Our District English Language Arts (ELA) scores for 3rd - 5th grade were higher than the State average in all grade levels. We had 78% of our Olympia students showing proficiency by 5th grade, and the State average was 53% proficient.
- At the middle school level, 66% of our 7th-grade students were proficient in ELA, which is higher than the State average of 53%. The 8th-grade ELA and math average scores were also well above the State average.
- Olympia High School’s graduation rate was 95% last year, which is higher than the State average of 89%. The 2025 graduating class earned over 1.5 million in scholarship dollars and earned 561 cumulative college credit hours. With the performance factors referenced above (ACT proficiency, attendance, climate survey participation, etc.) OHS moved their overall State score for 2024 - 2025 to 90.08, which is only 3 points away from the highest designation the State awards (Exemplary).
Our continuous improvement efforts help us to identify areas that need improvement. We are frequently looking at data and adjusting instruction and support to help move all our students forward.
