The Illinois State Board of Education has recently gone through an 18 month process to right-size assessment performance levels to provide better data on academic achievement and college readiness. These new cut scores will be applied to the IAR and ACT state required assessments that were administered in the Spring of 2025.
There are multiple data points that speak to the rigorous nature, as compared with other State assessments, of the previous cut scores applied to Illinois assessments. These rigorous cut scores resulted in students being mislabeled. We will share detailed information and student score reports with parents in October.
