Olympia School District proudly announces the Olympia High School Hall of Fame Class of 2024 inductees! These distinguished individuals will be introduced at half-time of the boys’ varsity basketball game on Saturday January 27th. – The varsity game will begin at approximately 6:30pm
This year’s inductees are:
Laura Canopy (Class of 2010- Outstanding Achievement/ Distinguished Graduate)Laura Canopy is a 2010 top 20 high honors graduate of Olympia High School. While in high school Laura was involved in softball, basketball, swimming and FFA. Laura received many softball honors. She was a part of a very successful softball team in her 4 years of high school. Individually she earned 1st team all state her junior and senior year. After high school, Laura attended Illinois State University, where she played softball and obtained a masters degree in accounting. In her time at Illinois State Laura achieved many accolades. Those include: MVC Scholar Athlete, MVC Second Team her sophomore year, MVC First Team her junior and senior year. She was also a finalist for Illinois State University Female Athlete of the year. After her four years she became a student assistant and then a graduate assistant to the softball team. After graduating from Illinois State with her masters in Accounting in 2016, Laura landed a job as a staff auditor at Kerber, Eck & Braeckel. Since then she has worked her way up to becoming a CPA and Audit Manager.
Bill Heck Sr. (Class of 1985 Individual- Outstanding Achievement)
Bill Heck is a 1985 graduate of Olympia high school. During his high school years at Olympia he was involved in football and wrestling. In his senior season of football Bill led the defense unit with 41 solo tackles and 25 assists. He also made the Corn Belt All Conference unanimous first team. Bill's greatest accomplishment came his senior year when he finished the season with a 37-1 record and became the first Olympia wrestler to place first at the IHSA State meet.
Jason Logsdon (Class of 1994–Distinguished Graduate)
A 1994 graduate of Olympia High School, Jason was involved in numerous activities. . After graduating from Olympia, Jason received his Bachelors in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois. After college, Jason was an investment banker at Merril Lynch & Co. Following being an investment banker Jason became a core member of management at Maschhoff Family Foods. While at Maschhoffs the company grew substantially from $70 Million to $1.3 Billion in annual sales. Maschhoffs became the largest family owned hog producer in North America & the largest chicken producer/processor in the Midwest. During his time at Maschhoffs Jason took on more leadership roles and helped diversify its customer base. In 2012 Mr. Logsdon was named the first non-family CEO of Maschhoff Family Foods and continued to help the company grow over the next several years. In 2015, partnered with Maschhoff , Jason founded JML Capital, the predecessor to Broadview Capital. He is also the founder, chairman and majority owner of Broadview Group Holdings, LLC . Besides serving as the chairman of Broadview Group he also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Broadview Capital. He helped lead its growth to a $350 million alternative asset manager in just 6 short years. Over the years Jason has been very successful in his career. In his down time he enjoys spending his time with his wife and children.
Dr. Joseph Rossi (Class of 1992-Outstanding Achievement/Distinguished Graduate)
Dr. Joseph Rossi is a 1992 co-valedictorian graduate of Olympia High School. While attending Olympia, Joe was involved in various activities. He was president of the NHS, student of the year in math, social studies, and spanish. He was also involved and very successful in swimming. Joe was a 4 time state qualifier, 4 time OHS MVP, All State Honorable Mention and set school records as an individual and in relay in multiple events that are still held today : (200 MED. RE, 200 FREE, 200 I.M, 50 FREE, 100 FLY, 100 FREE, 500 FREE, 200 FREE RE., 100 BACK, 400 FREE RE. ) . After High school, Joe attended the University of Illinois from 1992-1996 where he was a 4 year letter winner in swimming. At the University of Illinois he majored in Biology and minored in Biochemistry. In 1996 after graduating from the University of Illinois with Honors and Distinction. He then moved on to the University of Illinois-Chicago College of Medicine from 1997-2001. There he graduated with honors and his doctor of medicine degree. Finally he attended Northwestern University to do his residency and obtain his Master of Science in Clinical Investigation and Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Joseph Rossi has been an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Interventional Cardiologist and most recently the Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine- Director of the Cardiac Catheterization at the University of North Carolina.
2016-17 Wrestling Team (Team-Outstanding Achievement)
The 2016-17 wrestling team had many accomplishments during their season. The team sent five individuals off to the State qualifiers, three of them coming home with State ranks. The team as a whole was State Ranked ninth during their season. The dedication and determination of the wrestlers and coaches paid off. This 2016-17 wrestling team went on to finish their season with a 30-4 record and brought home a third place State Trophy.
