Today, an amazing group of Community Claus volunteers came together to deliver gifts to families right here in our neighborhood. From warm smiles to joyful surprises, every stop reminded us that the true spirit of the season is showing up for one another. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped spread cheer!

All Olympia Schools will not be in session today (Friday, Dec. 12) due to dangerous / unsafe road conditions /dangerous temperatures and wind chills.

We will be using a remote learning day today - please look for information from your child’s teacher (elementary) and plan on logging into online instruction today. We will mirror a typical day in school with regards to the schedule for the day.

PreK and Kindergarten teachers participated in professional learning today on developmentally appropriate play. They are actively assessing their practice and thinking about different ways to engage students in developmentally appropriate ways. It was a great morning!

We would like to remind our families that we have a District non-profit, the Spartan Promise Council, that exists to remove barriers for students. This non-profit is funded by individual community members and generous church donations. If your Olympia child needs food, clothing, or some other type of assistance, please reach out to our Student Support Specialist, Cari Roop (cari.roop@olympia.org). While there are food pantries in our communities, we also have a Spartan Market on the OHMS campus. The QR code on the flyer allows you to make a request. We hope that these services can help support our students during these challenging times.

The Children’s Discovery Museum visited Olympia West yesterday to host an exciting STEM Day! Students became young inventors as they designed and built their own cars using a set of materials and parameters. They tested their creations, analyzed the results, and made adjustments to improve how far their cars could travel. It was an incredible day filled with creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning—an engaging experience for every student!
