Our Varsity Lady Spartans battled through a very competitive Pekin Invitational today, going toe-to-toe with some tough programs and forcing an exciting three-set match against Moline High School!    A huge shoutout to Palmer Scheets, who was voted to the All-Tournament Team by coaches from other schools in our pool — an awesome recognition of her hard work and leadership on the court!   Proud of the way this team continues to compete and grow each week. Can’t wait to see what’s ahead for the Lady Spartans as we enter the last few weeks of our regular season!

A scorching Saturday at Detweiller for the Peoria High Invitational, a perfect state meet practice! Even with a slim crew, our athletes showed up and left it all on the course. A massive congratulations to Mira, not only did she smash her PR, running an incredible 19:14, but she also placed 20th overall in the competitive 1A/2A girls race! Huge shout-out to all our runners who absolutely shattered their personal bests, joining Mira in achieving PR’s: • Natalie crushing it at 22:41! • Graham Walters dropping to an 18:26! The competition was in attendance and definitely pushed us to a new level, Detweiller is a great PR course. So proud of the heart and grit shown today

The Humanities 101 class explored art in our local community at the Eaton Gallery. The students also visited additional galleries and completed the architectural walking tour curated by the McLean County of History.

The Spartans took on a tough Williamsville program tonight, and all three levels showed grit and hustle on the court. Varsity battled a strong squad and came up just short, with highlights including an impressive pancake dig from Grace Small that fired up the team! JV: 13-25, 25-20, 13-15 Freshman: 18-21, 14-21 Next up, Varsity heads to the Pekin Invitational this weekend for their final tournament of the season — let’s keep the momentum rolling!

Our Lady Spartans hit the court against New Berlin last night and showed a lot of fight across all levels! Varsity came away with another conference win, edging out a scrappy team on the other side. A big moment of the night—a highlight pancake dig from outside hitter Brooklyn Nomnick! JV: 19-25, 19-25 Freshman: 21-17, 21-2 Proud of the effort and hustle all around. Next up—we travel to Williamsville tomorrow night for another conference matchup!

The EPG Invite at Furrow Farms is known for being a straight-up beast of a course, with a really fun theme each year. This years theme was the movie Cars. Several teams had creative costumes which is what makes this race so much fun! Despite the challenging course the Oly girls persevered and made memories in the varsity and open races! Huge congrats to Mira on a top-ten finish! She powered through the treacherous terrain for 10th place in the Varsity Girls race (21:54). The 3 mile course was a first for Natalie (26:16), Juliet (25:23), Leah (30:28) and Chloe (31:12). Every single runner left it all out there. We had a great time and built some serious toughness!

Our Spartan volleyball teams battled with hustle tonight against a strong Pleasant Plains program. Even though the scores didn’t fall our way, there were plenty of great plays and moments of grit that make us proud to be Spartans! JV: 19-25, 14-25 Freshman: 11-21, 14-21 Good luck to our JV Spartans as they compete in the Lexington Invite—keep fighting hard!

🍎 The OHS Department of Fun is the apple of our staff’s eye! 🍎 Our social group, started in 2023, is all about giving staff more chances to connect, relax, and enjoy time together outside of our usual routines. This morning, we kept things sweet and crisp with an Apple Nachos Bar, a midweek pick-me-up to celebrate our amazing staff. 🍏✨ Because when it comes to community and fun, we’re always picking the best! 🍎🍫🥜

OHS Picture Day is right around the corner! This year’s Picture Day will be the morning of Wednesday, October 1st. Prints can be ordered before or after Picture Day on inter-state.com using the order code 0127MSF. All orders made before Picture Day will receive free shipping to the school.

As a reminder, all seniors will have a school picture taken for ID purposes on Picture Day, even if they have separate Senior Pictures taken for the yearbook. A huge conference win across all levels tonight — the girls showed incredible hustle, heart, and teamwork from start to finish. Every team left it all out there! JV: 25-27, 25-22, 15-7 Freshman: 21-6, 21-16 Way to go, Spartans! We’re back in action on the road at Pleasant Plains this Thursday — let’s keep the momentum rolling!

The Boys golf team competed in the Sangamo Conference meet yesterday at The Rail. The boys shot their best 18 holes of the year shooting a 358 and placing 5th in the Conference. Ethan Barnes and Dylan Nowaskie led the way scoring wise shooting an 85 and 87 respectively, earning 10th and 13th place. Next counting towards the team's score was Mason Kruger with a 92 and Noah Walker with a 94. Gage Pitcher shot a 99 and Cooper Otto shot a 102. The Spartans ate back in action Thursday at Eureka.

The phones at OHS, OMS, and the District Office are back up and functional. Frontier will continue to monitor the situation as more rain is expected tonight and tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding!
