Family Tip 5: Review worst-case steps. Walk through what to do if your kid is being bullied online. First, step away. Ignoring a bully can be very effective. If the bullying continues, take screenshots or print out evidence. Then block the person. If it gets worse, report the behavior to a trusted adult. Talk about who those people are and make sure your kid has their contact information.

Lots of middle schoolers are exploring and developing their own identities, and they often do this online and on social media. Some kids use multiple accounts, each for a different audience, but with this what’s real and what’s unrealistic can often get blurred. In this video, listen to other teens talk about the ins and outs of presenting themselves to others online, and consider what it means to “be yourself” in digital spaces. http://bit.ly/Oly2DFV3

As soon as you share the first photo of your kid, you're establishing their digital footprint. As kids get older and start creating their own content or engaging with others online, it's important for them to understand the tracks they're leaving behind and what those tracks might reveal. Parents can help guide kids toward creating the kind of footprint they can be proud of. https://www.commonsense.org/education/family-tips/k-5-digital-footprint-and-identity

Congrats to Charlie Kistner for an outstanding win in the 3200 meter run last Friday night at Eureka. Last year, as a freshman, Charlie set an all-time high school goal for himself to run a sub-10:00 3200 meter race(a feat that no Olympia athlete has done in the last 30+ years). Last Friday night, Charlie smashed that goal, running 9:53.96. He has now set his sights on a new goal....the 46 year old 3200 meter record held by Les Meyers at 9:16.8.
