Three students have recently qualified to sing in ILMEA All State ensembles at the 2019 Illinois Music Education Conference in Peoria, IL.

Emma Kindred (soprano) - All State Choir

Marissa Horning (alto) - Honor's All State Choir

Ethan Schopp (tenor) - Honor's All State Vocal Jazz Ensemble

This is Emma's first appearance at the All State level, and will be singing under the direction of Philip Lawson of the world renowned men's ensemble, The Kings Singers. Marissa will be making her second appearance in the Honor's choir, this year under the direction of Kimberly Dunn Adams, professor of choral music at Western Michigan University. And for the first time in Olympia history, Ethan Schopp represents the Spartans in the Honor's All State Vocal Jazz Ensemble - where only 9 singers out of the entire state of Illinois have been chosen to be a part of. The Honor's VJE will be directed by Jeremy Fox, currently professor of Jazz Studies at Southwestern Community College in Iowa as well as an accomplished arranger of vocal jazz music.

The honor's vocal jazz performs Friday, January 25, 2019 and the all state and honors choirs both perform on Saturday, January 26, 2019 - both in Peoria, IL. Come out and support the incredible accomplishments of these singers!
