Senioritis Skips the Dance Team

As Olympia’s dance season comes to an end, Seniors hit the floor one last time; last Friday at 7 o’clock Seniors performed their final half-time routine of their high school career.

So far this season the dance team has done hip hop, jazz, pom, mance, and the teacher dance. Mance is a boy-girl dance the girls do every year to incorporate different people and give the audience something new.

The Senior night dance struck a chord for many of the team members, all wishing it wasn’t over. Senior, Sarah Kingston said, “It’s really sad to think that I’ve been dancing for 15 years and senior night is the last dance I will ever perform again.” She, like many others, has been dancing for years and is sad to give it up.

The final routine was accompanied by senior cheerleaders whose season is also coming to an end. “It was so fun for all of us to be out there at once, next to my friends, for our last routine,” Senior Sarah said.

Senior, Emma Kindred said that overall this year went a lot smoother. “We had a smaller team this year which allowed us to get really close and bond,” Emma said.  This year the team had seven members so many became friends and got along really well.

The senior night dance was bittersweet for Emma. “I’ve been dancing since I was three and this year was a really great way to end my dancing career. Emma said all the dances went well and they were able to be themselves at practice.

Freshmen Lexi Brammeier, said, “This year was better than she expected, having a small team made everyone more comfortable and open. Next year Lexi is looking forward to getting new uniforms, the uniforms they’ve been using are over 10 years old.

All the girls flooded the locker room for one last team hug of the season. It was filled with tears, laughter, and smiles as they said goodbye to their beloved seniors. Seniors Sarah Kingston and Emma Kindred will be missed!
